THE KAYFUN PRIME RECEIVED TODAY

THE NEW KAYFUN IS HERE!
THE NEW KAYFUN IS HERE!

(Channeling Steve Martin with the new phone book from The Jerk)

This is not a review, but I know there’s a lot of folks interested in this piece so I thought I’d post some initial photos here.

Looks like the Mini V3 and the 5 got together for a hot night of Kayfun sex and popped out the “Prime”.

This one doesn’t appear be a “try to do everything tank” like got with the 5, but it looks like they’ve gone back to their MTL roots… at least with this one.

How does it vape? I’ll let ya know. 🙂

Enjoy!

NEW FROM REGULATOR WATCH – FDA | What’s Gottlieb Thinking?

Here’s the latest from Brent Stafford at Regulator Watch:

Would Dr. Scott Gottlieb save vaping? This was the question on the minds of many in the vaping industry upon hearing the news President Trump would appoint Dr. Gottlieb as the new head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The answer is starting to become clear.

In a bombshell announcement Commissioner Gottlieb issued a 5-year extension on compliance deadlines for the dreaded Premarket Tobacco Application process, which if fully implemented could have wiped out the vaping industry. He announced a new approach to nicotine regulation that recognizes the harm reduction benefits of e-cigarettes. And, he committed FDA to a more robust and sustainable regulatory framework for the vaping industry.

But, all is not sunshine and roses. The commissioner had a stark assessment and warning for the vaping industry. What’s Commissioner Gottlieb thinking? Find out—only on RegWatch by RegulatorWatch.com.

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Golisi Gold G30 25A 3000mAh…bit overrated, appears to be HG2

This cell has “25A CDC” on the wrap which I believe is a continuous discharge current rating. While this is a bit of an overrating I am delighted to say that there is no useless “max” or “pulse” rating on the wrap

The wrap has “IMR 18650” on it but this cell does not use the battery chemistry often associated with the IMR model number prefix. It uses the chemistry associated with the INR prefix.

This cell appears identical, and performs essentially identical, to the LG HG2. I am rating this Golisi cell at 20A and 3000mAh.

The two cells that were tested were donated by Golisi for that purpose. Thank you!

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Brillipower Pink 5000mAh 40A 26650…comically overrated, very long, not IMR

This cell has “Max Continuous 40A ” on the wrap but this is a ridiciculous overrating. The “Pulse 85A” rating is completely useless. At 85A the voltage dropped to my 2.5V cutoff in a fraction of a second.

The wrap has “IMR26650” on it but I do not know if this cell uses the chemistry associated with the IMR model number prefix.

This is a very long cell, averaging 67.3mm, and will not fit in some mods. I do not have a list of which.

Compared to the Shockli Black 20A 5500mAh this Brillipower hits a little harder at the start but performs worse for the rest of the discharge. For low to moderate power vaping the Shockli is a better choice.

I am rating this Brillipower cell at 20A and 5000mAh.

The two cells that were tested were purchased for that purpose by me.

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Brillipower Green 4500mAh 80A 26650…laughably overrated, not IMR

This cell has “80A” on the wrap. This is so much of an overrating all I can do is laugh. Even if we consider the 80A rating to be a useless “pulse” rating it’s still grossly overrated. At 80A the voltage dropped to my 2.5V cutoff in a fraction of a second.

The 4500mAh capacity of this cell is also exaggerated. It is a 4300mAh cell, at the most.

The wrap has “IMR26650” on it but I do not know if this cell uses the chemistry associated with the IMR model number prefix.

I am rating this Brillipower cell at 23A and 4300mAh. Now that we have better 26650’s to choose from this Brillipower will be removed from my Recommended Batteries table.

With all the other cells that are available to us, without this degree of overrating, this one is a terrible choice and earns a Do Not Buy recommendation from me.

The two cells that were tested were purchased for that purpose by me.

SEVIA-USA TO HOLD INGREDIENT LISTING CONFERENCE

Part of our work with SEVIA-USA is to be sure manufacturers comply with deadlines that can affect the importation of electronic cigarettes into the country.  It is because of this that we’ve arranged to hold an “Ingredient Listing Conference” to assist the SEVIA members with that task.  The conference will be held at the SMOK Headquarters in downtown Nashan in China and will be hosted by Dimitris Agrafiotis and Azim Chowdhury of Keller and Heckman Law Firm.

Thank you to all of the SEVIA-USA members for your continued support!

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Brillipower Blue 3100mAh 50A 18650…grotesquely overrated by 250%, not IMR

That’s not a typo, it’s not a 25% overrating. It is a 250% overrating. This cell has “50A max” on the wrap. This is an obscene overrating as there are no 18650’s available with a capacity of 3000mAh or higher that have a current rating over 20A.

If “max” is some sort of “pulse” rating it is useless because we don’t know the pulse length, time between pulses, and the criteria used to set the rating. It cannot be used to compare this battery against any other.

The 3100mAh capacity of this cell is also exaggerated. It is a 3000mAh cell.

The wrap has “IMR18650” on it but this cell does not use the chemistry associated with the IMR model number prefix. It uses the chemistry sometimes indicated by the INR prefix.

Its appearance is identical, and it’s performance essentially identical, to the Sony VTC6. I am rating this Brillipower cell at 15A and 3000mAh.

With all the other cells that are available to us, without this degree of overrating and incorrect info, this one is a terrible choice and earns a Do Not Buy recommendation from me.

The two cells that were tested were purchased for that purpose by me.

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Brillipower Green 3100mAh 40A 18650…preposterously overrated, not IMR

This cell has “40A max” on the wrap, which is an impossible overrating as there are no 18650’s available with a capacity of 3000mAh or higher that have a current rating over 20A.

Its appearance is identical to the LG HG2 but this Brillipower doesn’t perform quite as well as my reference HG2’s. It does perform about as well as a lot of the HG2’s being sold now though and better than it did on my previous test when Brillipower was obviously using lower grade cells (something they do often).

I am rating this Brillipower cell at 20A and 3000mAh.

I was very close to giving this cell a Do Not Buy recommendation but the use of cells that were not obviously, but might still be, a lower grade means they are just not a great choice considering what else is available.

The two cells that were tested were purchased for that purpose by me.
