VAPING NEWS: SOUTH AFRICA [Vaping Isn’t Smoking]

“The vaping industry is demanding to be allowed to sell its products online and for delivery during lockdown level3. They also want to be disassociated from the tobacco sector. Vapour Products Association of South Africa (VPASA) chief executive Asanda Gcoyi told The Star that the narrative that vapour products, cigarettes and tobacco products were the same was problematic. “Vaping is not smoking, those are two different things. Both vaping and cigarettes contain nicotine, but nicotine is not what kills people in smoking, people die because of the tar,” she said. Gcoyi added that categorising them together caused serious problems, because of the global agenda of harm reduction.”

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Vapcell H10 – 10A 1000mAh 14500…slightly overrated capacity

This is a decent 10A cell but I recommend staying under 7A/20W for better performance and less voltage sag.

The capacity for the two Vapcells I tested was 957mAh and 958mAh at 200mA (0.2C) down to 2.5V. This is incredible consistency but these cells fail to meet their 1000mAh rating. I am rating them at 900mAh.

Ratings graphic: https://imgur.com/a/vB5aD16

Full Test report: https://bit.ly/3bxwFq0

I want to work for the vaping community full time! If you feel what I do is worth a couple dollars a month and you would like early access to battery availability, battery and charger testing and news, and a say in what I test, then please consider becoming a patron and supporting my testing efforts: https://www.patreon.com/batterymooch.

These tests only note the ESTIMATED ratings for these batteries at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” batteries or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of personal injury or property damage. They are not meant to be used outside of a protected battery pack and you use them AT YOUR OWN RISK. Never exceed the battery’s continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Any rating in my ratings tables can change at any time as different grade cells appear on the market, we get swamped with fakes, or new information becomes available to me. Please, never assume that the ratings in the tables are permanent and will never change! Always download the latest version before considering any cell purchase.

AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE – WELL, NOT REALLY

So the FDA has finally come clean on the real issue. We’ve known it all along, but now they are admitting it. Illicit tainted THC cartridges. Yes my friends, drug dealers have taken down the industry, not only in America, but all over the world.

But life is good right? I mean, with something like this from the FDA, we should be in the clear…

Statement on consumer warning to stop using THC vaping products amid ongoing investigation into lung illnesses

This is why today, we’re strengthening our message to the public in an updated consumer alert stating that they should not use vaping products containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive component of the cannabis plant. Additionally, consumers who choose to use any vaping products should not modify or add any substances such as THC or other oils to products purchased in stores and should not purchase any vaping products, including those containing THC, off the street or from other illicit channels.

You can read their entire release HERE.

No, I don’t think so. The damage is done. Businesses continue to suffer. Businesses continue to close. Sales are down, not only in America, but all over the world as we’ve very clearly heard when we were in Greece, and now in France.

The fights against the bans need to continue. The calls into the White House and our representatives need to continue. The Twitter war must continue.

Right now, one of the most important things this industry can do is to come together and create a positive PR campaign for vaping. As I said, the damage is done, and it’s going to take a long time, a lot of work, and a lot of money to regain consumer confidence in vaping. We know how good it is. The rest of the world needs to know it as well.

FROM TONY ABBOUD/VTA – Federal Update on Cole-Bishop from VTA

Federal Update on Cole-Bishop from VTA:

On April 30, 2017, at about 9:00 p.m. eastern, House and Senate leaders reached a deal to fund the government for the next five months. Though the bill averted a government shutdown, it did not include the Cole-Bishop Amendment, which has been the vapor industry’s top legislative priority. Our intelligence tells us that while Cole-Bishop was not included, this first major attempt to incorporate bipartisan legislation in support of the industry in a major budget bill was hugely impactful. In fact, unlike previous efforts, the ultimate decision came down to just a few senators.

While we are exceptionally grateful for each of those Members of Congress who spoke up for small businesses and the vapor industry, we are particularly grateful for each vapor company, large and small, who aggressively pushed the agenda and who encouraged others to write and call their elected officials.

And, while this particular outcome is disappointing, our resolve to save vapor is strong because we have only set the stage for future success. The current budget deal runs for only 5 months. During that time, we will continue to press for a Congressional solution.

As you know, the multi-pronged plan we laid out at the beginning of 2017 included both Congressional and Administration activities. In that regard, VTA already has commenced its strategies to seek relief from the Trump Administration. Just last week, VTA leadership met with Secretary Price’s senior leadership team to make the case for that relief. In the coming months, we will be moving forward on dual paths in Congress and the Administration.

This Tuesday, two members of our bi-partisan government affairs team will join us for a national webinar to provide an update on where things stand in Washington, D.C. for the vapor industry. We highly encourage you to click here to register and get the play-by-play on what went down this week and where we are heading: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/regist…/4892709478153348611

And, thank you for all you do to defend vapor!

NEW IN THE QUEUE – THE KANGER CUPTI 2 – 8/11/16

  • This product has been received in exchange for promotion and/or review. It was received prior to 8/8/16.

THE KANGER CUPTI 2

Here’s the Cupti 2, the bigger brother of the Cupti.

This is another internal tank device, similar to the original Cupti. It has the body shape of the Drip Box 160 (Reuleaux), uses two 18650 batteries, fires up to 80W, does temp control for Nickel 200, Titanium and Stainless Steel and is firmware upgradeable.   As a matter of fact, they’re already hinting at a 80W to 100W upgrade.

Although it’s substantially larger than the Cupti, we don’t gain any additional tank capacity, it has the same 5ml tank as seen in the Cupti 1.

I like the fact that this one comes with an adapter that will turn it into a standard 510 device.  We didn’t see that with the original Cupti.

Regarding the big M you’re gonna see on the screen.  I’ll figure that out when I get to it.  🙂

Here’s some additional information from Kanger:

The Kanger CUPTI 2 is an All-In-One device that is designed for both mouth to lung and direct lung vapers. The Kanger CUPTI 2 features a large 5.0ml built-in tank that utilizes the leak resistant cup design to help minimize leaks. The Kanger CUPTI 2 can fire up to 80 watts and supports Nickel 200, Titanium and Stainless Steel atomizers in temperature control mode. The Kangertech CUPTI 2 supports the CLOCC atomizer heads and includes (1) SS316L 0.5ohm atomizer head for direct lung users. The Kanger CUPTI also features an adjustable airflow valve located right under the mouth piece for maximum airflow.

The included 510 tank adapter allows you to use your favorite tank or dripper with the CUPTI 2. The Kanger CUPTI requires 2 high amp 18650 batteries (sold separately) and is easily replaced using the bottom battery door which is easily locked and unlocked. The CUPTI 2 has a micro USB port for charging and future firmware updates. All you require is batteries and e-Liquid and you are ready to start vaping!

  • Dimensions: 4-1/8″ x 2″ x 1-5/8″
  • All in One Design
  • Includes 510 Tank Adapter
  • Temperature Control for Nickel 200, Titanium and Stainless Steel
