VAPING NEWS: GUIDE TO READING SAFETY & OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
“Vaping accidents are rare, but when they happen, they can cause severe facial injuries. Misuse can also occur, which voids the warranty. One of the reasons these accidents and malfunctions happen is because some vapers misuse their devices. All of the warnings mentioned here are meant to keep users safe and the device functional. They should not be ignored. Before operating any vape, no matter how simple it may look, always read the manual first.”

PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA [Flavor Ban]
“The Pleasanton City Council voted last week to ban the retail sale of flavored tobacco products within city limits and establish a tobacco retailer license, effective in 2021. The two local ordinances are part of a public campaign [claims] to discourage youths from using flavored tobacco and vaping devices. Cigars will be required to be sold in packages of five and cigarillos — also known as small cigars — in packages of 20, under the new city regulations.”

VAPING NEWS: CALIFORNIA [Sen Jerry Hill Pushing People Back To Smoking]
“In the name of fighting Big Tobacco, lawmakers are about to ban those nicotine products that help smokers break their deadly smoking habit — while ensuring that only the most dangerous tobacco products are still available. Actually, the Hill bill isn’t even a “half” measure, given that cigarettes account for far more than half of all tobacco use, and the bill doesn’t address their sales. In fact, it might lead to a boost in the cigarette business. If the Senate gives a final OK and the governor signs it, California smokers will no longer readily be able to buy e-cigarettes, even though they are 95 percent less dangerous than cigarettes. A flavor ban is essentially a sales ban on vaping given that nearly all vape liquids have a characterizing flavor. Hill doesn’t want the company to even imply that these less dangerous products could help people stop smoking. In Senate Bill 793, lawmakers agreed to exempt the retailers of high-end cigars and pipe tobacco as well as hookah lounges, but refused to exempt many other products.”

VAPING NEWS: VERO BEACH, FLORIDA [Tobacco 21]
“The City Council last week unanimously raised the legal age for buying tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes, from 18 to 21. Violators would get a warning for a first offense and $50 fine for a second offense.”
BILL TARLING – City Attorney John Turner appears to be extremely inept and/or unqualified for office after making the blatantly fabricated and fraudulent claim that “The use of e-cigarettes is even more hazardous than the use of tobacco products,” City Attorney John Turner said.”

From Josh
Hi Phil,
Had an interesting occurrence today that made me smile, and thought you may enjoy it as well.
I stopped into a eatery today for some lunch. There were several ladies working behind the counter. I ordered my food and waited as usual, normal everyday situation.
However, when I went to pick my food up, one of the ladies behind the counter asked me what my shirt meant. It took me a minute to process this question. I had forgotten I had chosen to wear my “vaping saved my life” shirt from casaa.
Once I realized this, I told her that I used to smoke for 20 years, and vaping helped me quit. I told her that there’s a lot of misinformation about vaping, but it is 95% safer then smoking, and if they knew anyone that smoked that is unable to quit, tell them to try vaping, and they could help save a life also.
It took about 5 seconds for that to come out of my mouth like I had rehearsed it for an hour. But in all actuality, it was the first time anyone had asked me about my shirt. That single possibility that someone somewhere might try vaping, to quit smoking, made buying this shirt, the best bargain I’ve ever gotten.
I just thought you might get a kick and a smile from the “shirt billboard” situation I had. Once again thanks for all the advocacy and information you and dimi provide.

VAPING NEWS: SAGINAW, MICHIGAN [Public Venue Ban, Reclassifying Vaping As Smoking, & Vape Product Possession Fines]
“The Saginaw City Council adopted two ordinance changes on Monday, Aug. 24. The second ordinance focuses on the consumption of tobacco products as well as marijuana products and sets the groundwork for regulations in city parks. The ordinance reads, “For purposes of this section, smoke or smoking means possessing a cigarette, e-cigarette, cigar, hookah, or pipe that contains tobacco, marijuana, or any other product that is lit or burning; lighting a cigarette, e-cigarette, cigar, hookah, or pipe that contains tobacco or any other product; or exhaling smoke from burning tobacco or any other burning product that is contained in a hookah, pipe, cigar, cigarette and/or e-cigarette.” According to the ordinance, no individual is allowed to engage in any of the aforementioned activities and smoking in any city park, including, any playground, tennis court, community center or outdoor athletic complex owned by Saginaw. Violating the ordinance could result in a fine of $50, according to the ordinance, and community service may be ordered in lieu of a fine.”
Even though e-liquid vape products do not emit smoke, they are still being criminalized as if they did

VAPING NEWS: CALIFORNIA [SB793 Blocks Adults From Smoking Harm Reduction Alternatives]
“Senate Bill 793, which would ban the sale of flavored tobacco products throughout California, on Monday passed the Assembly and now heads back to the Senate. The legislation purports to improve public health, but it actually would endanger the health of people who are trying to quit smoking. The bill prohibits retailers from selling tobacco or nicotine with a characterizing flavor. One of its obvious targets is vaping. It’s also wrong to ban adult-only products to keep them from teens. The state doesn’t ban adult alcohol or cannabis sales based on a similar argument. If SB793 becomes law, the Legislature would eliminate the availability of products that help smokers quit their deadly habit.”
