VAPING NEWS: CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO [Art Advocates Want Vape Tax To Fund Them]
“Cuyahoga County arts advocates are leading an effort to amend the pending state budget bill to expand an existing cigarette tax that helps fund local arts programs. The advocates want to change the tax from a flat 30 cents per pack of cigarettes sold to an 8% tax on wholesale sales volumes. They also want to broaden the tax so it applies to sales on all tobacco products. Backers of the request estimate the change would effectively double the money the tax generates, which they said would make up for dwindling revenues tied to declining smoking rates. If state lawmakers agree to allow the change, it then would need approval from local voters to take effect. The arts organizations also want legislators to change state law authorizing Ohio’s 14 other most populous counties to seek approval for similar taxes. Under current law, only Cuyahoga County residents can enact such a tax.”

VAPING NEWS: ALTRIA WANTS FDA TO SPEND $100M ON PRO-VAPING CAMPAIGN
“The firm that makes Marlboro cigarettes has boldly asked US health regulators to help it convince Americans that nicotine is not that bad for them – and spend $100 million toward the effort, according to a Bloomberg report. Marlboro’s maker, Altria, wants the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to back its advertising campaign to inform Americans that it’s smoking, not nicotine, that causes cancer and encourage to switch to safer nicotine products. That could be a major boon for Altria’s ‘move beyond smoking’ campaign – and sales of its e-cigarette IQOS.”

VAPING NEWS: OVERSIGHT & REFORM SUBCOMMITTEE [FDA Must Prevent Puff Bar Sales]
“Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy, sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) providing new evidence of illegal e-cigarette sales, and urging immediate action to remove all flavored e-cigarette products sold by Puff Bar from the market and prosecute violators. The Subcommittee previously wrote to FDA regarding this issue on March 6, 2020 and June 1, 2020. In response to the Subcommittee’s investigation: Puff Bar claimed to have ceased all online sales and distribution in the United States, and FDA sent a warning letter to Cool Clouds Distribution, which conducts business as Puff Bar, declaring its sales to be illegal. In today’s letter, the Subcommittee provided new evidence that Puff Bar has resumed sales and launched new vaping products, in violation of FDA’s previous warning letter. In addition, the Subcommittee pointed FDA to a Delaware company called DS Technology Licensing, LLC, to which Puff Bar has handed off ownership of its trademarks.”

FROM INNOKIN TECHNOLOGY – The Evolution of Vape Technology – A revolution for the E-cig Industry inspired by Nikola Tesla
The Evolution of Vape Technology
— A revolution for the E-cig Industry inspired by Nikola Tesla
Innokin has teamed up with Fourier Technology to develop the Sensis, the first vaporizer with 4th generation vaping technology.
From the first generation Ruyan cigalike to the latest devices, vape technology continues to evolve as improvements in technology and design increase the effectiveness and popularity of vaping. Vaporizer form evolved from cigalike to ego kit, box mod, closed pod, disposable pod to pod mod. However, product form does not go hand in hand with vape technology evolution. An example would be the closed pod and disposable pod, which appeared later than box mods but used the earliest generation vape power control technology.
What are the four generations of vape technology?
First-generation vape technology was basic, where direct power output to the coils could not be adjusted. With the push of a button, or by simply inhaling, the battery heated coils, changing the e-liquid into vapour to deliver nicotine and flavors.
Second-Generation vape technology introduced variable voltage and variable wattage, where adjusting the power output to the coils increases or decreases heat to personal taste. With adjustable voltage/wattage technology, vaporizers became smarter and more user-friendly. The device chipsets read the coil resistance then automatically calculated power output to provide a safer, personalized experience across devices and tanks. The simplicity of variable wattage has made it the most widely used vape technology today, especially in intermediate and advanced ecigs.
Third-generation technology with Temperature Control utilized more advanced chipsets and new types of coil materials. Designed to eliminate dry-hits and reduce potential harm from damaged cotton wicking, third-generation vape technology used resistance-temperature correlation to calculate coil temperature based on detected coil resistance. Due to limited choices of coil materials and coil performance issues, temperature control is not used as widely as wattage mode.
Alternating Current Mode (ACM) is the Fourth Generation of Vape Technology. Earlier generations of vaporizers all used direct-current to power coils in a single direction. Alternating Current Mode sends electricity through the coil in both directions.
“Our goal in developing Alternating Current Mode is to provide vapers with an even better experience and the vaping industry new ways to grow and improve. This exciting new technology is easy to use, deep in complexity and can be used by all current tanks, coils and pods. We are looking forward to working with experienced users to discover the full potential of this exciting new vape technology in the hope of working together to create a smoke-free future”. Said Ivan Zhao, CTO from Fourier Technology and PHD of UCL.
According to Fourier “Alternating Current Mode introduces Waveform Frequency Control to vaping. Vapers can now adjust the Hertz frequency waveforms as well as the wattage output. This upgraded output provides many advantages over the previous generation’s single direction current.
By selecting different types of waveforms and adjusting the frequency, the full spectrum of flavors can be produced from e-liquids and specific flavors enhanced.
ACM increases the efficiency of heat transfer between the coil and e-liquid, which improves flavors, extends coil life and much more.
Alternating Current Mode has been shown to help extend coil life by increasing coil saturation and reducing carbon buildup on coils.”
The Innokin Sensis is the first vape device that uses the fourth-generation vape technology to extend coil lifespan and enhance flavors.

VAPING NEWS: LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA [Constitutionality Of Flavor Ban Challenged]
“A group of tobacco companies has told the Ninth Circuit that Los Angeles County’s ban on flavored vapes was preempted by the Federal Control Act, urging the court to reverse a lower court’s decision to toss their suit against the county. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., American Snuff Co. and Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Co. Inc. said in an opening brief Monday that even though state and local governments have the power to regulate the sale of tobacco products under the TCA, they can’t prohibit the sale of tobacco products because they disagree with federal tobacco product standards.”

VAPING NEWS: FDA [Investigating Puff Bar For Ignoring Regulations]
“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating Puff Bar, an e-cigarette seller, after it began selling fruit-flavor disposable vaporizers on its website despite an FDA ban. The agency put a ban on fruity e-cigarettes due to the high popularity of the addictive substance among teenagers. Puff Bar maintains it did not violate the policy because it used tobacco-free nicotine. The FDA told The Wall Street Journal that it is investigating the new move by Puff Bar and did not say if the tobacco-free nicotine was enough to get around the FDA’s ban.”

THE WOTOFO SMRT POD KIT PRESENTATION
A PBusardo Presentation – The WOTOFO SMRT Pod Kit – Make coils like the Chinese do!
Welcome to a new format for presentation videos. This is for the WOTOFO SMRT Pod Kit. It’s a direct lung device, so it’s not really in my wheelhouse which is why I’m trying the new presentation format. How you make the coils also reminded me a lot of what we saw in China (minus the press fitting machines) which I thought was pretty coil… I mean cool.

VAPING NEWS: CALIFORNIA [Voters To Decide Flavor Prohibition]
“Thanks to a mammoth effort of signature gathering undertaken last year amidst the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, California voters will have the final say on whether or not the state embarks on a new era of prohibition. Last year, state lawmakers passed a bill banning flavored tobacco products. But after getting enough signatures to qualify for the statewide 2022 ballot, the decision over banning flavored tobacco products will be left to California voters. In the 2022 election, Californians will decide whether to ban the sale of nearly all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes, flavored e-cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco. Lawmakers exempted pricey cigars, hookah, and pipe tobacco products from the ban.”
