Winnokin – New Proton Kits up for grabs!

Another amazing giveaway!

Winnokin! 15 contestants to be the first to experience Innokin’s new direction in the ECF April Giveaway Carnival

Following hot on the heels of the massive March Madness Innokin contest (congrats again to our 43 winners), our friends at Innokin are back with a very special contest. Fifteen winners will be some of the first in the world to get their hands on the PROTON & SCION II kit.

As ever, all you have to do is play!

Innokin are best known for making very high-quality mods aimed at the mid-performance market. They’ve not ventured into the high-performance world, preferring to specialise at more-or-less dominate their main market.

The Proton is, then, a departure for Innokin. It’s a top-performance 235w vape monster aimed squarely at the cloudchasing community. But, as you might expect, it’s no catch-up product. Innokin have taken their time and imbued the PROTON with their trademark quality, and built in some unique features to boot.

Innokin are also releasing a totally new coil technology in the form of their Plexus. It’s a mesh based coil, rather than the usual wound wire, and is specifically designed for very high performance vaping. Our first and second prize winners will get to trial the Plexus in the PROTON Kit…

To find out more and to discuss, do visit the ECF contest thread, where Innokin are answering questions (and giving out some instant wins to the membership too).

Thanks for reading. But why are you still here? Go and play already…

FROM CASAA – Stop an anti-Vaping amendment to the state’s constitution!

FLORIDA

(INDOOR VAPING BAN)

CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMISSION

Every 20 years, the state of Florida convenes a Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) to consider possible amendments to the state’s constitution and put them to the voters to decide. In 1998, this process was used to pass an unpopular statewide anti-smoking law that prohibited smoking in workplaces. In 2018, much like 1998, a similar proposal would ban vaping in the same places where smoking is prohibited.

We need your help to urge members of the CRC to remove the indoor vaping question from the final ballot. Please take action now by sending a message! Remember to personalize your message by talking about what vaping means to you. If you have switched completely to vaping or reduced your smoking because of smoking, be sure to include that in your message.

The indoor vaping ban proposal is being paired with an amendment that would ban drilling for oil in Florida. This coupling of unrelated policies is not unique to vaping, though, as the commission has decided to shrink 24 proposed amendments to the constitution down to 12. Their stated reason for doing this is simply to save space on the ballot.

Please take action now by contacting commission members and urging them to remove vaping from the ballot.

Take Action – Send a Message!

Thank you,
CASAA Legislative Team

From Shane

I’m a 57 year old male I have been 100% disabled for 30 years I spend most of my time at home in bed. I started smoking cigarettes when I was 21 I liked to consider myself a very light “Social Smoker” the last 5 to 7 years that I smoked cigarettes I smoked 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 packs a day everyday along with 2 or 3 packs of Backwoods Cigars. (I spend all of my life in bed other than 4 doctor visits a year) my kids do everything else for me. On August 10th 2013 my Daughter and Son got me a Vape Set-up 2 Ego batteries a 5 pack of tanks and 4 or 5 small bottles of E Liquid and that’s where this story began. On 8-10-2013 just before midnight I put my last cigarette out and have not had even 1 drag of any tobacco product. A Monumental Accomplishment for someone like me who has been diagnosed by Professionals with a “Very Addictive Personally”. The main reason for me writing this email is about “Vape Flavors” if the only options for me we’re tobacco and Menthol I am 100% positive that I would have been back on cigarettes in a very short amount of time as the few times that I had tried any tobacco or menthol even anything like mint chocolate chip or anything that resembles a Menthol Cigarette just brings on very very strong cravings to smoke a cigarette and that’s the very last thing that I want or need. And lastly there’s an App myQuitTime shows how long I’ve been a non smoker, Cigarettes Not Smoked 169,877 Money Saved @ $5.00 = $42,469.30 it puts things into perspective for me anyways.
Thank You Shane

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Vapcell Purple 3100mAh 35A 21700…appears to be Samsung 30T, an incredible 35A battery

The Vapcell is identical in appearance and even better in performance to the Samsung 30T’s I tested one year ago. Perhaps they tweaked the chemistry of the 30T since my test of it or the samples I tested then were a lower grade.

The 30T, and especially this rewrap of it, are incredible performers. They easily hit harder than any other cell available to us and are a great choice for unregulated or regulated device users at higher power levels.

I am rating this Vapcell at a cool-running 35A and 3000mAh, same as the Samsung 30T. The typical capacity you get in use could be higher but the rated capacity is 3000mAh.

I do not know who has this cell in stock or when anyone will be stocking it. Please check with your favorite vendors or Vapcell.

Two cells were donated for the purposes of testing by Vapcell (www.vapcelltech.com). Thank you!

These tests only note the estimated ratings for these batteries at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” batteries or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of personal injury or property damage. They are not meant to be used outside of a protected battery pack. Never exceed the battery’s continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Any rating in the tables can change at any time as different grade cells appear on the market or we get swamped with fakes. Please, never assume that the ratings in the table are permanent and will never change! Always download the latest version before considering any cell purchase.

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: PRELIMINARY Bench Test Results: Sony VTC5D 18650…around 25A, 2700mAh-2800mAh, beats VTC5A

I tested two samples of this cell which has been popping up in Asia. I haven’t been able to get the datasheet but preliminary testing shows it’s probably rated at about 25A continuous and around 2700mAh-2800mAh. It hits harder and lasts longer than the VTC5A and its performance is about equal to that of the incredible VTC6A.

There is a Vapcell discharge graph showing this cell delivering a bit over 2900mAh but my two cells delivered 2742mAh and 2796mAh at 0.5A down to 2.5V. The Vapcell test used a 1A discharge for their test and that slight warming, versus the lower rate 0.5A rate used by me, can lower the internal resistance which allows the cell to run at a slightly higher voltage which means it can run for longer before hitting 2.5V.

I do not know if this is why the Vapcell test shows this cell delivering over 2900mAh but the 1A discharge rate or a difference between the grade of the cells I had and what they had might explain it.

I do not know if the ones I tested are early production or pre-production samples so my ratings are just preliminary estimates for now. I will be retesting this cell when they become more available and will adjust the ratings if necessary then. I will also post their internal resistance and watt-hour specs then.

Two cells were donated for the purposes of testing by Vapcell (www.vapcelltech.com). Thank you!

NEW FROM REGULATOR WATCH – Easy Kill | U.S. Vaping Industry Roiled by Setbacks

Here’s the latest from Brent Stafford at Regulator Watch:

In this video, Brent interviews a personal friend of mine and a wonderful person, Schell Hammel.

The vaping industry is in “desperate need of help” says Schell Hammel a long-time national vaping advocate and retail vape store owner. With the defeat of the Cole-Bishop Amendment which promised to save the vaping industry and a reinvigorated attack by non-profit public health groups, the future of vaping in the U.S. is in serious doubt.

In this special edition of RegWatch we interview Hammel in her home state of Texas where she is fighting to save the industry. Hammel sits at the nexus of advocacy in America serving with both the Smoke-Free Alternatives Trade Association (SFATA) and American E-Liquid Manufacturing Standards Association (AEMSA), as well as providing counsel to other advocacy groups across the country.

Is there a future for Cole-Bishop?
Did vaping advocates commit a strategic error?
Who is negotiating right now with the FDA?
Can vaping be saved?

A BATTERY MOOCH POST: Efest Purple 35A 3700mAh 21700…only 30A but a great performer, similar to Golisi S35

This is a great performing cell but it runs at close to 90°C at its 35A continuous rating. This is too hot in my opinion for decent cycle life as most cells say not to exceed 75°C-80°C. I don’t know why Efest decided to exaggerate the rating but it was completely unnecessary.

Actually, I do know why…our obsession with high rating numbers. I just don’t like that these companies feed into that instead of just showing us it’s a great performing 30A battery.

This Efest’s appearance and performance is very similar to the Golisi S35 but different enough that I cannot say they are the same cell. The Golisi is a bit better performer at lower current levels but the Efest shows less voltage sag at the start at 30A.

I am estimating the ratings for this Efest to be 30A and 3700mAh. The 30A rating helps to keep its temperature down closer to the 80°C limit used by other cells.

Two cells were purchased for the purposes of testing by me.

From Melissa

It’s been six years since I thanked you, and now I have to again. lol Though this time, you’re a lot busier with many more people msging you (sorry to add to the pile, will be brief.)

1. The Ares is a wonderful tank. Haven’t liked a tank as much since the Kayfun Lite+, which I solely used until the Ares, for the last three’ish years. You, Dimitri, and Innokin have outdone yourselves.

2. Your review on the Berserker MTL RDA inspired me to give dripping atties one last shot (I’m exclusively mtl and spent too much money on rdas that just weren’t for me) and I’m glad I did. It’s great.

All throughout my vaping experience, you’ve given some of the best advice and have helped so many people. Myself included. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Again. 🙂
