CALL TO ACTION

From CASAA:

Last year, the State of Washington wisely banned sales of “vapor products” to minors. This year, groups opposing e-cigarettes have pushed for legislation to redefine e-cigarettes as a “tobacco product” and a “tobacco substitute.”

Senate Bill 6569 was introduced on February 19, 2014 and has been referred to the Senate Ways and Means Committee. The matter could be considered as early as next week.

If passed, Senate Bill 6569 will:

Eliminate the definition of e-cigarettes as vapor products and instead define them as a “tobacco product” and a “tobacco substitute.”
Subject e-cigarettes to an unconscionable 95% tax.

“BROKE VAPERS” AND PLAYING WITH NUMBERS

I’ve been hearing a lot about broke vapers, paying it forward, and people looking for hand outs.  Although I think it’s terrific helping those in need… I wonder if these “broke vapers” were ever smokers?

My guess is that they were and they’re turning to vaping as a way to get off the traditional tobacco cigarettes and live a healthier lifestyle, which BTW – IS TERRIFIC!  Congrats to you!

With that in mind, I thought I’d run some numbers.  You all know how I like numbers!  🙂  Some of these are theoretical and big time assumptions of course.

Based on THIS website I’ve found that the highest average price of a pack of cigs (in 2013) is in NYC (yay us) at $14.50 per pack.  The average lowest price (in 2013) is $4.96 in Kentucky (lucky you).

Now even if you disagree with those numbers, bear with me.

So if you’re a pack-a-day smoker in NYC, it’s going to cost you… ready… $5,292.50 per year on average.
If you’re a pack-a-day smoker in Kentucky, it’s a much more reasonable $1,810.40 per year on average.

So let’s look at some things you’ll need to be a vaper.   First, there are the consumables:

Liquids, Batteries, Tank Heads (I’m assuming you’re using a clearomizer here)

There are also the one-time purchases:

Charger, Tank (again, assuming a clearomizer), and Device

THE CONSUMABLES

For liquids, let’s assume 30mls per week at an average of $20.49 per 30ml with shipping.  That number came directly by averaging all the liquid prices currently found on my “Chart-O-Juice Prices”  So this number comes to around $1,065.48 per year.

Now for all of you who are saying … “I vape more than that” or “I vape less than that”… please read the “let’s assume” part again.

For batteries, let’s assume 4 AW-IMR 18650s per year at around $11 a piece at RTD Vapor.  That comes to $44.

Now this will be a stretch for some, but let’s assume you’re only using a Nautilus tank and you’re going through a single head per week.  Heads for that tank from GotVapes are $3.45 a piece which comes to $179.40 per year.

So totaling all that up, your consumable cost comes to around $1,288.88 per year.

ONE TIME PURCHASES

Ok, you’re going to need a tank.  I’ll quote the Nautilus since I quoted it’s heads.  GotVapes has it for $38.95.

How about a charger?  You want a good intelligent charger, so how about a Nitecore I2 2-bay.  RTD Vapor has it for $21.99.

So far we’re at $60.94 for One-Time purchases which we’ll add to the total consumable cost giving us $1349.82 total.

THE DEVICE

Now for the fun part because I often hear, “I can’t afford it” or “it’s too expensive”.  But let’s take a closer look…

Let’s subtract the $1349.82 number we have so far from the number it costs to be a smoker in both NYC and Kentucky:

NYC: $5,292.50 – $1349.82 = $3,942.38
Kentucky: $1,810.40 – $1349.82 = $460.58

Looking at those two numbers in NYC you should be able to afford around:

164 eGo Twists (actually more than that, you won’t need the charger and batteries quoted above) OR
71 Vamo V5s OR
24 ProVaris OR
21 Nemesis (what the hell is the plural of Nemesis?) OR
14 ZNAs OR
7 Wizard Evolved Titaniums

In Kentucky you should be able to afford:

19 eGo Twists (actually more than that, you won’t need the charger and batteries quoted above) OR
8 Vamo V5s OR
2 ProVaris OR
2 Nemesisis or Nemesisi OR
1 ZNA OR
Sorry, the Wizard Evolved Titanium isn’t in the cards for you.  🙁

Now, I know some of these numbers and assumptions are a stretch, but the bottom line question I have is, if you could afford to be a smoker, how can you not afford to be a vaper?

At least before the FDA gets to us anyway.  🙂

Remember, vaping can be as expensive or as cheap as YOU let it be.  Sure there is a little more upfront cost, but you certainly don’t need to start with a Wizard Evolved Titanium either!  Never think you’re any less of a vaper because of the device you’re using.

No matter what device you use, what topper you have, how much you’ve spent, if you rebuild or not, the one thing we ALL continue to have in common is that WE VAPE… WE DON’T SMOKE!

MODIFIED AGR+ CARTO TANK FROM KIDNEY PUNCHER

Since there are so many people who still ask me about the AGR+ carto tank, I thought I’d post this information.

Kidney Puncher is selling a modified version of the tank. They’ve taken some of my suggestions and had a machinist widen the airflow channels. They’ve also added an additional fill port so that air can escape from one as you’re filling from the other.

I personally haven’t tried this tank yet, but you can find them HERE.
