Hey Phil,
Just wanted to say hello and congrats. Congrats for three years of providing the
good advice and entertainment! I think you started “officially” with the site (I
think) in April 2011, so kudos to you. Just following up, doing great, using aspire
bdc, nautilus, on the provari and others. Just bought a kayfun lite plus, works
great, finally after 15 months, I have started doing rebuildables. Per your advice,
will probably buy the Kanger Mega, if they decide on the final set up. Like you, I
liked the original look, but everything always changes! As you said in your videos,
vaping has come a long way baby, just in my 15 months, it is amazing, for me, burnt
vivi novas to aspire nautilus and kayfun, go figure. Hope you and family are doing
great, be safe, I’ll keep watching, thanks man!

WELCOME TO THE LIST! FIVE PAWNS CASTLE LONG (RESERVE)

  • Castle Long & Castle Long Reserve – Five Pawns

Welcome to the newest member of my Favorite Juice List!  I’ve been vaping enough of this to call it a favorite.  Castle Long is a very unique flavor; toasted coconut, roasted almond, brown sugar, two different vanillas, and Kentucky bourbon.  The “Reserve” edition is aged in an oak barrel and although it will “darken” some of the previously mentioned flavors, it will add a rich charred oakiness to the flavor profile.  It’s a little light in the TH department, so I typically run it in a Kayfun and pump up the volts a bit to satisfy.  It ain’t cheap, but you just may love this one for a special occasion.  Enjoy!

Phil – Just a quick little note to let you know how much you have helped in
kicking the traditional smoking habit. I spent 9 years in the Marines and tried
several times to quit while I was in. As you could imagine, the monotony mixed with
the majority of my peers being smokers, it was not an easy task. From there I went
into law enforcement, which was pretty much another military environment and
quitting seemed just as difficult. Over the last couple of years I have tried a few
of the gas station e-cigs and found that they weren’t really cutting it. I heard
about the tank based systems but never payed any attention (assuming they were just
as unfulfilling as e-cigs). I was browsing on youtube one day and for some reason
decided I would click on a review of the iTaste VV 3.0. When I did this I was in
no way looking for useful information or ideas for quitting. The way you speak to
viewers, cover ALL bases, and provide technical information in an entertaining way
made me watch the entire video and seriously consider making a purchase. I ended up
buying one (what’s 30 bucks on ebay, right?), and absolutely LOVE it. I have not
touched a cigarette since, and enjoy Vaping (even more so than smoking). For
enjoyment I’ll find myself sitting in my patrol car and watching your reviews at 2
in the morning lol. I’ve since bought several different tanks and juices and am
trying to make my mind up on a bigger and more powerful mod. In short, I just
wanted to say thanks for providing EXCELLENT videos that give a vaping newcomer the
information to give a serious effort to quitting smoking.

“OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE” – NOT!!

Unacceptable and it must be stopped!

All of the ridiculous bans and taxes are… well… ridiculous, however this one will set a very unwanted precedent. This one will shut down businesses and make people lose their jobs and investments. But most importantly, this one will drive people back to smoking.

This needs to be fought by all vendors, manufacturers, and vapers alike. Do you want to go to pre-filled “Blu” cartomizers? I certainly DO NOT!

We have a legitimate healthier alternative to smoking based on the studies so far. We are creating jobs. We are building businesses. We are adding to the economy. We are potentially saving lives. So what does our so called “Of the people, For the people, By the people” government want to do? Shut it down. For shame… for shame.

What’s the matter NY? Getting nervous? Losing too much money in taxes as people find their way to the healthier alternative that is vaping? Panicking are you? Is THIS your solution? Put your citizens back on the cigarettes that we KNOW are bad for us? Thank you for your concern.

We continue to be our own worst enemy.

I’m disgusted.

How about waiting for more facts and science to come in before making such a rash and uneducated decision? Or is “it looks like smoking” good enough for you? And IF that science tells us we need to fix things, WE FIX THEM. But don’t take it away from us. The ONE THING that has worked when all others have failed.

Did I mention I’m disgusted?

SOME SERIOUS SERIOUS SIDE BY SIDE VAPING – THE KANGER AEROTANK MEGA VS. THE ASPIRE NAUTILUS

Based on a BUNCH of comments and questions I received over the Kanger Aerotech Mega video I recently posted along with the declaration that it is my new recommendation for a large form factor clearomizer tank, I set off last night to confirm what I kinda already knew.

I decided to do some serious “side by side” vaping from the chair. I set up both tanks with new heads and the same liquid. A liquid I’m quite familiar with… Juice Vapor’s Tribute. The resistances were similar, 1.9 Ohms on the Nautilus and 2.0 on the Aero. I put each on similar 33.3 devices, the SID and the VAMO, and off I went to my chair to relax, have a vape, and compare the two.

IMG_6532

Adjusting

Adjusting the Nautilus is easier to do due to the indents and knurled air control ring.  However, you adjustments are limited to the hole sizes.  The Aerotank is a little trickier to adjust and more likely to come off it’s setting, however, without any indents you do have unlimited adjustability.

Build Quality and Looks

I continue to prefer the looks of the Aero Mega over the Nautilus, but I’ll say it again, I liked it even better before they added the “(ProVari) bling”  I also prefer the way the Aero Mega holds the glass tank in place and favor the design over the threaded glass of the Nautilus (which I’ve heard has broken on some users).

Liquid Capacity

The Nautilus shines here with it’s 5ml e-liquid capacity over the 3.8ml of the Aero.  A filling design improvement on the Aero Mega could get it closer to the 5ml of the Nautilus as when it’s flipped back over after filling you so see a fair amount of wasted space.  Something else to keep in mind is that it’s more difficult to see when to fill the Mega as compared to the Nautilus.  On the Mega, the liquid drops below the deck and it appears to be empty.  Hold it upside down to see how much liquid you REALLY have left.

Civility

I thought the Nautilus a much more “civil” vape.  Quieter and smoother.  The Aero was crackling and breathy when compared.  Several times it reminded me of my childhood watching the Sleestak on Land Of The Lost.

Vape Quality

If none of the above means anything to you, it really all comes down to this.

  • Consistency – similar
  • Vapor – similar
  • Throat hit – similar
  • Flavor – AHA!

I thought the flavor of the Aero Mega was better than that of the Nautilus.  Much better?  No.  Noticeable?  In my humble opinion… Yes.   The Nautilus was slightly more muted than the Mega, however, both provide an outstanding vape.  Allow me to say it again… we’ve come a long way baby!

So my recommendation for a clearomizer does change to the Aerotank Mega from Kanger.  Due mostly to:

  • Looks
  • Lack of threaded glass
  • Better flavor

Now PLEASE Kanger… make the heads consistent!!  🙂

From Matt

Phil,

I have spent a lot of time thinking about writing this email and everything that I wanted to say. I have been analog free since January 2nd of this year. Before that I was a 2 pack + a day smoker for the last 25 years. Long story short, I had been extremely sick, to the point where I had already gone several days without being able to inhale. At the worst I felt myself struggling to breathe, and could see concern turning to fear in the eyes of my children. To say I was scared would be an understatement. So the morning of the 2nd I reached for one of the cigalikes I had laying around for long car trips with the kids.

As we all know, the taste was awful, the battery life was miserable, and in my heart I knew I was doomed to fail if I didn’t find something better. In the past I have jokingly referred to myself as a semi pro quitter. Aside from acupuncture and hypnosis, I have tried every other method out there, some of them a few times. The gas station specials I was using had all the same ear marks as the other methods I had tried, earmarks that I knew would result in me eventually turning back to the stinkies.

I knew there were other options out there and so I turned to the internet and started doing some rather desperate homework. I eventually stumbled upon both your and Grimmgreen’s videos and in both I found not only a direction to try, but more importantly confirmation that there was better, and most important of all… I found hope.

I immediately went out and purchased an ego style twist starter kit and a bunch of different juice at various nic levels. Over the last three months vaping has gone from a life saver to a hobby, and I have gone from 12mg down to 3 or less.

This last week I was at my company’s annual summit, and while I didn’t have to vape outside, I did so anyway. I welcomed the questions and shared what I have learned, much of it from watching your videos. I recommended your videos and website so many times I lost count. The day before we left one of those smokers let me know he and his wife had decided to go for it and had ordered their first starter kits. Aside from the couple mentioned above, I know at least two other smokers have made the switch as well.

I thank you and my children thank you as well. I have heard you say many times that you didn’t / can’t reach through the screen and make us stop smoking and your right. What you do though is nearly as important. You inform us, entertain us, and in a way I find difficult to explain you serve as part of a support group.

Hey Phil:
I wanted to let you know about how you have helped me. I will try to be short but it’s a long story. In 2007 I had to have an infusion and I had an anaplactic shock to it and ended up in a coma for 3 weeks. My heart almost stopped working and it stopped supplying blood to my legs. I had to have both amputated below the knee. They all thought I was going to die but obviously I didn’t. I hadn’t smoked in 1 1/2 months but when I had that first one I was off and running. It wasn’t till 2009 that I tried vaping. I had the old cig style batteries and cartomizers. I tried making my own with the stuff you get at the pet store they use for aquarium filters. Tried tea bags. Never was really happy with it tried probably $500 worth of juices. When they came out with the DCT’s I thought but I was still smoking about a 1/2 a pack. I have never bought from a brick and mortar cause we don’t have any good one. I got a GGTS when they came out and burned up IDK how many atomizers. Went back to the carto tanks and got a Silver Bullett. When the Provari came out I ordered on right away the VV really intrigued me. It worked great and I was pretty happy. Found a juice vendor HHV that I liked the liquid and all of a sudden the vendor I was using for my cartos started getting some really crummy ones at about this time I found out I was going to have to have my aortic valve replaced so had to stop analogues completely. Found a new vendor for my cartos SmokTek. Had my Open Heart Surgery in 2012 and it didn’t go as planned so I ended up with much the same problem I had before. I started watching your videos in that area of time in the dark room. They have come a long way. My cardiologist wanted me off nicotine all together so was working my way down. HHV mixed up different nic levels then they advertise and I am down to 3mg. Got my wife to stop smoking and start vaping after only 4 years of nagging. With all the equipment coming out I really started watching your videos to find out what would make the juice better. That’s when I started writing to you and have since gone to the Bottom Coil Tanks because of your reviews and I am so much happier with my flavors. My wife is using up my DCT stash, only thing she likes. I am going to some of HHV’s other flavors which have “Street Shout Outs” My next order will be Omg nic and 40/60 wife still needs the 60/40 and 3mg but she has been off anologs for 3 months. This came out way too long sorry Phil.
I know this can use some editing, shortening and paragraphs but wanted to thank you for all your help. I’m 64 years old and smoked since 16 especially after I joined the Army at 17 back when a lot of the guys were there by choice either Army, Marines or Jail. I wasn’t one of those but had a lot of friends that were.

Hi Phil, I wanted to share a short story. I quit smoking and started
vaping 5 month ago. I had to take a lung capacity test this week for work and my
results were that of a non smoker. I was a pack and a half smoker with a lot of
problems and look at me now! I’m very happy and very grateful to have such an
awesome resource as yourself to help guide me toward better decisions and a better
vape. THANK YOU!!!!
