VAPING NEWS: NEW YORK [Open Shops]
“Vaping shops across New York are open — and people are wondering why. Multiple people have reached out to the Democrat and Chronicle, asking why vaping shops are open across the county. They’re not only open across the county, as a cursory check will show; they’re largely open across the state. The state order on what businesses are essential allows a business with one working employee at a time to remain open. Most vaping shops are using this exemption to remain open as many other businesses are temporarily shuttered.”

VAPING NEWS: FDA & CDC FAKE EPIDEMIC
“Two years ago, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched a total war on the use of electronic cigarettes, declaring a fabricated epidemic in teenage vaping. E-cigarette manufacturers were raided, new federal regulations were implemented, and a misinformation campaign was waged on the public from the health agencies that claim to serve them, scaring millions of Americans from making a life-saving switch while the nation sat vulnerable to a pandemic. Contrary to the federal government’s claims, an epidemic in adolescent vaping doesn’t exist.”

“Tobacco and vapor companies have an extra four months to file their premarket tobacco applications (PMTAs) for newly deemed tobacco products with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This past summer, District Judge Paul Grimm of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland set a May 12, 2020 deadline for companies to submit the applications to the agency, as Convenience Store News previously reported. However, on April 3, Grimm said he would agree to extend the deadline for the PMTAs to Sept. 9, according to Law360.”

Among other things, it brings together genuine experts to look at research related to vaping. UKECRF has released its latest vape research briefing, thanks to funding by Cancer Research UK (CRUK). The research briefing is part of a series of monthly updates aiming to provide an overview of new studies on electronic cigarettes. The briefings are intended for researchers, policy makers, health professionals and others who may not have time to keep up to date with new findings and would like to access a summary that goes beyond the study abstract.”

VAPING NEWS: UK [Vape Shops Are Essential]
“Alex Cunningham, MP for Stockton North has been a staunch advocate for vaping and its potential to reduce risk for smokers, especially those in disenfranchised and vulnerable groups in society. He has recently spoken up in favour of allowing vape stores to operate during the COVID-19 outbreak. Writing a letter to the Secretary of State, Alex said that bricks and mortar stores were essential in ensuring that ex-smokers without access to (or a fear of) the internet needed this access to prevent them from returning to smoking.”

VAPING NEWS: SOUTH AFRICA [VPASA]
“Conversations about the supposed negative impact of vaping should be based on scientific evidence as opposed to personal feelings,” says the VPASA. “The mistake that many anti-vaping advocates make is to lambast vaping while failing to acknowledge that there is still, hitherto, no scientific evidence that suggests that vaping poses a substantial risk to people’s health, let alone a risk equivalent to cigarette smoking.”
