VAPING NEWS: OREGON [Online Ban]

“The Oregon House of Representatives has passed a bill that would ban online sales of vapes. Dr. Dean Sidelinger, health officer for the Oregon Health Authority, noted in testimony on the bill that vape sales on social media platforms are often promoted by “influencers” who use the pandemic to encourage online sales that are socially distanced. The bill now advances to the Oregon Senate.”

VAPING NEWS: INDIANAPOLIS [Park & Public Venue Ban]

“Indianapolis city-county councilors will consider banning smoking in public parks, extending the city’s nonsmoking ordinance that currently applies to city-owned property, bars, restaurants, bowling alleys and most places of employment. The ordinance includes e-cigarettes. If passed, smoking would be banned in all of the city’s 212 parks. City-owned golf courses and golf driving ranges would be excluded. So too would be property the city or county leases to a party for a term greater than five years. The ordinance does not apply to the excluded cities and towns of Lawrence, Speedway, Beech Grove and Southport.”

LATEST FROM REGULATOR WATCH – Wiped Out | Canadian E-Liquid Manufacturer Talks Nic Caps & Flavour Bans

Here’s the latest from Brent Stafford at Regulator Watch:

It’s astonishing to witness how swift the Canadian vaping industry’s fortunes have changed following the legalization and regulation of vapour products in 2018.
After experiencing explosive growth and successfully navigating the complexities of a newly enacted regulatory regime, the Canadian vaping industry now faces destruction.
Turmoil over the so-called youth vaping “epidemic” and reputational damage done by a smear campaign that falsely implicated nicotine vaping as having caused an “outbreak” of a mysterious lung illness is responsible for sowing doubt and mistrust with the regulator and the public.

Joining us today on RegWatch is Saadiq Daya, the CEO of Canadian e-liquid manufacturer VanGo Vapes. Hear his assessment of Health Canada’s regulatory management and what he fears most about the pending restriction on nicotine levels and potential national flavour ban.

VAPING NEWS: STUDY FINDS SWITCHING TO E-CIGS ARE A GOOD SMOKING & CARCINOGEN REDUCTION AID

“E-cigarettes that deliver a cigarette-like amount of nicotine are associated with reduced smoking and reduced exposure to the major tobacco-related pulmonary carcinogen, NNAL, even with concurrent smoking, according to a new study led by researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University and Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. “[We found] e-cigarettes with nicotine delivery like a combustible cigarette were effective in helping reduce smoking and exposure to a tobacco-related carcinogen,” said lead author Caroline O. Cobb, Ph.D., an associate professor in the VCU Department of Psychology in the College of Humanities and Sciences. “But it doesn’t just happen by accident. It requires the smoker to be actively trying to reduce their smoking by replacing it with e-cigarette use.””

From Rob

Hello Phil,
My name is Robert Wayne. I’m a 49yr old male. I’m a retired E7 chief petty officer of the United States Navy. I entered service at the ripe ole age of 18, 1990 right out of Highschool. I grew up in the Air Force and graduated from Torrejon Air Base Spain.

I had started smoking cigarettes during my senior year, ironically thinking it made me a bad ass while playing a linebacker on one of my schools football teams. ( no, not the European football despite being in Spain, the American version) I started smoking, it was the thing to do, hell at that time drinking age was 16, so, when in Rome right?

Before going to Spain, I had spent just about close to 12yrs of my life overseas, my mother and I following my father around during his Air Force career. Btw, he’s a retired Full bird Col. An A-10 warthog pilot who cross trained to the F-16 Fighting Falcon. And yes, they were both smokers, still are.

Enter my military career, I was eventually a QMC SW/AW Retired navy vet. (Sw is surface warfare specialist, AW is air warfare specialist) during my 20years I was a smoker. And I continued that even after I retired at the age of 38.

I’m now 49yrs of age, I called you and Demi last week on the smokers show, and got to speak to Mike (the god father of vaping) just so I could say I was a few days away from my one year mark of quitting smokes, and totally into vaping. It is April 6th now, 369 days since I quit smoking (call it a military thing, I keep track) thanks to YOU, DImitris and the Innokin brand.

Thank you again Phil Busardo and Dimitiris Agrafiotis, and of course Innokin.
You DO help change lives,

Sincerely,
Rob

VAPING NEWS: PAVE [Anti-Vaping Agenda To Distort & Ignore The Truth]

“Parents Against Vaping E-Cigarettes (PAVe) have hosted their inaugural “Clear The Vapor Conference” last week. The organisation consists of a group of volunteer ‘moms’ with a venomous contempt for vapers, tobacco harm reduction, and telling the truth. Shamefully, they managed to obtain financial support from CVS Health and convinced a number of “experts” to take part and tell their distorted version of the truth. The event was also sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, the Truth Initiative, and the American Heart Association. Shortly afterwards, the conference comment section on their website was taken down. Within hours of the conference finishing, someone checked the PAVe YouTube channel and removed the comments from there too.”

VAPING NEWS: LAWMAKERS WANTS ALL VAPE PRODUCTS REMOVED FROM THE MARKET & DENY PMTA APPLICATIONS

“House Democrats have asked acting Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Janet Woodcock to remove all vaping products from the market during an ongoing product approval process, despite evidence showing millions of Americans have used these alternatives to stop smoking traditional cigarettes. Given the fruity flavors and the vast availability of these products, these Democrats want the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products to take action by removing products from the market during a process known as the premarket tobacco product applications pathway. Wasserman Shultz’s office clarified that the lawmakers have specifically asked the FDA to remove from the market all flavored e-cigarettes that are currently under review by the tobacco regulator. The letter asks the agency to “deny applications for any flavored e-cigarettes and other flavored tobacco products, and to deny issuing a marketing order for any e-cigarette that poses an increased risk of youth initiation or addiction.””
