VAPING NEWS: Southmead Hospital could get vaping zones to make it ‘truly smoke-free’
Meanwhile… across the pond:
In 2017, North Bristol NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, bowed to public pressure and introduced two smoking shelters outside the main entrance and maternity ward.
Now it has admitted its ‘smoke-free’ policy is not working, and has said it is re-thinking its approach, with the possible introduction of designated outdoor areas where people can smoke e-cigarettes and the sale or provision of vapes on site.

LATEST FROM REGULATOR WATCH: Déjà Vu | New Alarm Over Youth Vaping in Canada
Here’s the latest from Brent Stafford at Regulator Watch
Caught in a state of perpetual motion, the War on Vaping powers on this week with yet another alarming television news report from Canada’s public broadcaster, the CBC.
Featured on the flagship newscast “The National,” the CBC report sites new data provided by University of Waterloo professor Dr. David Hammond that purportedly shows teen vaping in Canada has returned to pre-pandemic levels.
True to form, the CBC leaves no room for doubt regarding its position on vaping as the report is tagged on-screen throughout the entire piece with the graphic “Teen Vaping Calls to Action” and in the lead, the CBC states Health Canada is not acting quick enough to protect a new generation of youth from becoming addicted to nicotine.
These are shocking developments no matter which way you view them. And for some, it must feel a bit like Déjà Vu.
Joining us to talk through the CBC report and to discuss Dr. Hammond’s new data is national vaping activist Maria Papaioannoy-Duic from Rights4Vapers.

FROM A FRIEND – HOW VAPING HELPS!
Hi Phil. How are you? I’m hoping your mom and dad get down here soon. I want to hug mom and do some fishing with Dad. Anyway, I wanted to tell you, I work doing Medicare supplements and Advantage Plans so I speak to people that are 65 and older. I had a customer call me today and thank me for talking to him about vaping. He had tried everything to quit and nothing worked. He smoked 2 packs a day. He wanted to let me know that the day he picked up the vape, he never smoked another cigarette and is now hardly even vaping. He is no longer on blood pressure medicine and no more inhaler. He also got 2 of his friends to try and they also no longer smoke cigarettes. He was so happy he wanted to thank me. I thought that was great and he passed it on and helped 2 friends. Hope to see you all soon.

VAPING NEWS: Big Tobacco comes out swinging against Biden’s Build Back Better bill
In the letter, dated Sept. 14, the trade associations argued that if the price of tobacco products spikes, buyers would move to the tobacco black market where sellers don’t abide by standard regulations and often prey on young people.
“When the price of a product rises too much too fast, illicit purveyors will seize the opportunity to exploit and take advantage of current users and entice new users without discriminating based on age,” the letter read. “This undermines the responsible measures our retailers have taken and creates a problem for society as a whole.”
