Today, Tuesday, May 10th, 2016, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is officially publishing its final tobacco deeming regulations in the federal register. This means the clock begins counting down on the various compliance periods within which e-cigarette manufacturers and retailers must implement certain practices.
CASAA has been receiving a high volume of calls and emails from consumers and small businesses regarding how the FDA Deeming regulations will affect them. Fortunately, the FDA has set up a hotline to answer your questions.

Some of the questions that CASAA has received that might be more appropriately answered by FDA include:
- Will I still be able to DIY at home or do I need to register as a tobacco manufacturer?
- I have an e-liquid line coming out next week. Will I be able to sell it?
- Will kanthal wire and cotton balls now be considered tobacco products?
- Will I have to pay to sample e-liquid even it it’s zero nicotine?
- Can I sell my device to a friend even if I’m not a shop owner?
- Can I give my old equipment to a friend who wants to stop smoking?
- Is my device a tobacco product even though I use it with zero nicotine?
- If I buy vegetable glycerine from a vape store, is it a tobacco product? If yes, what about if I buy it at a Walmart?
- And so on…

FIRST LAWSUIT IS FILED – Nicopure Labs Challenges the FDA’s Deeming Rule

NEW IN THE QUEUE – THE ASPIRE NAUTILUS X – 5/9/16

We’ve seen a couple manufactures re-use some product names. Namely Kanger with the ProTank 4 Evolved and now Aspire with the Nautilus X. IMHO Aspire stayed truer to the name than Kanger did.
I personally think Kanger muddied the “ProTank” waters with multiple heads, a dual coil RBA section, and a large bore drip tip. Good features? Yes, but maybe not for the “ProTank” name.
Aspire, on the other hand, is offering a much simpler tank that does MTL very well and includes a smaller bore tip which is what I would expect from something called “Nautilus”.
The design is extremely similar to the Cubis, but at first glance, it’s going to do better with thicker liquids than the Cubis due to the larger liquid holes in the coil heads.

NEW IN THE QUEUE – THE SENSE HERAKLES RTA-2 – 5/9/16
We’ve seen very similar designs, but I received some of these so I thought I’d share. This is a dual coil, direct lung tank with a Velocity styled deck very similar to the ones I looked at HERE.
There are a couple differences, notably the 25mm design and the large 6ml tank capacity.

The Sense Herakles RTA2 25mm is a new version of the extremely popular Herakles RTA, redesigning the deck to accommodate an even larger variety of coil configurations while focusing chamber airflow into two oversized airslots and introducing a unified, dual quarter circle wicking system. The RTA2 builds upon the 25mm Herakles RTA platform, with the major redesign found in the airflow and wicking system of the build chamber. In lieu of an internal quad airflow, the RTA2 features dual enlarged airslots that measure 8.5mm by 3mm in a curving design, placed directly below the coil for effective and efficient airflow. NEW IN THE QUEUE – THE JOYETECH EGRIP II – 5/9/16
Well Joyetech certainly is getting a lot of mileage out of the Cubis design. We’ve seen it in the Cubis, the AIO, the Cuboid Mini, and now the eGrip II.
You can think of the eGrip II as a Cuboid Mini (I’ll be getting to that review THIS week) with the tank built in as apposed to removable… oh, and a fancy clock. An included adapter allows you to convert your eGrip II to a mod that will accept any 510 tank or atty.
Here’s some additional information from Joyetech:
