FROM CASAA – Lawmakers are home this week…
…and we need your help to get their support for Cole-Bishop!
Can you take a moment today to call your representative and senators and urge them to support the Cole-Bishop amendment in the 2017 US Budget? They can show their support by co-sponsoring HR 1136.
Congress is home for the Easter break, so we are providing district contact information below.
Please Call:
Sen. Charles Schumer (D) – (212) 486-4430
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D) – (212) 688-6262
Rep. Louise Slaughter (D) – (212) 688-6262
Things to discuss on you call:
- Urge them to support the Cole-Bishop amendment to the 2017 US Budget and co-sponsor HR 1136, which will protect access to life-saving vapor products for millions of current and former smokers. The current roll-out of the FDA regulations will remove nearly all vapor products from the market in less than two years.
- Emphasize that modernizing the predicate date to August 8th, 2016 will not take away the FDA’s ability to regulate vapor products. This necessary change simply means that vapor products are not unfairly regulated more harshly than cigarettes.
- Briefly, share your personal story about switching to vapor products. Make sure to include any improvements in health you have experienced or, perhaps, that your doctor has observed. If the variety of flavors are important to you, be sure to mention that too.
- Protect our right to choose a safer alternative to smoking and live a healthier life by keeping the Cole-Bishop amendment in the 2017 US budget.
- Ask if your representative is available for a meeting to discuss this issue further.
When you’ve finished your call, please follow up with an email.

Please let us know how the call went. You can send an email to takeaction@casaa.org

BRANDON FROM EVOLV STOPS BY TO INTRODUCE THE DNA-75C!
A PBusardo Video – Brandon From Evolv Introduces the DNA-75C
Brandon from Evolv stops by to have a chat and introduce the new DNA-75C. Although the “C” stands for color, it’s much more than that. It’s a more usable DNA product (we can finally forget key sequences) and if you’re into customizing your vape, get ready to do so in ways we’ve never before seen.
He also gives a brief tour of the changes to Escribe and the new Theme Designer.
Brandon is very soft spoken so I do apologize in advance for the volume swings. I did what I could to boost him during editing.
I hope you enjoy it & Happy Easter!

A BATTERY MOOCH POST – The iJoy 40A 3000mAh 20700 Bench Test Results…a good 30A battery
21700Bottom Line: This is an overrated 20700 cell (20mm diameter x 70mm length) that performs well but not quite as well as the Sanyo NCR20700A. Its appearance is similar to the Panasonic/Tesla cell, with its 5-leg top contact, but I cannot confirm that this is indeed the Panasonic cell. There are differences in the top crimp seal and tooling marks.
This iJoy uses a paper top ring insulator that should not be exposed to juice or otherwise it could swell and soften, possibly increasing the risk of the insulator being damaged when put into or removed from a device or charger.
I am rating this iJoy at 30A and 3000mAh.
My thanks to Evolution Vaping for donating the two cells for testing (https://www.evolutionvaping.co.uk/ijoy-20700-40amp-battery.html)!

A MESSAGE FROM CASAA – You can help us add business names to an important letter to HHS
In March, CASAA, in cooperation with VTA and SFATA, released a letter writing campaign for consumers to send messages to HHS Secretary, Tom Price. Simultaneously, SFATA, VTA, and AVA distributed a similar letter from businesses in order to gather signatures. As a compliment to that campaign, CASAA is reaching out to our members who work in or own vapor shops and asking them to sign on to this letter.
Our goal is to collect as many signatures as possible to show Secretary Price the thousands of small businesses–and the customers that rely on them–that will be impacted by the full implementation of the FDA deeming regulations.
Here’s how to participate:
- Shop owners: If you have not already signed the letter circulated by your trade association, please take a moment today to add your name to this letter.
- Shop employees: Ask your manager or the owner if they would be willing to add their name to this letter.
- Consumers: Share this engagement with your local shops. Urge them to add their name and to share this engagement with the local vapor business community. If you have a smartphone, you can bookmark the engagement and they can take action right from your phone. You can even give them this link: bit.ly/delaythefda. Better yet, write it down on a card and hand it to them 🙂
- Consumers: There is also a letter writing campaign specifically for customers. You can participate here. We are asking shop owners to provide a small space in their shop for their customers to write their stories and send them to Secretary Price. Just like the business letter, you can share this bitly link with them if they would like to download and print the materials: bit.ly/letterstohhs.
Again, we want to stress that we are providing two distinct engagements. One is for vapor shop owners and the other is for their customers.
Shop Owners, add your name to this letter to HHS Secretary Tom Price.
Customers, send a real life letter to and share your story with HHS Secretary Tom Price.
Thank you,
Alex Clark
Executive Director
