Dear Phil. I have to mention this story to you that happened to me today.

So me and my wife went to a new doctor today for physicals and blood work. (I’m 42 and wife is 39 in great health). So the doctor ask “do you smoke?” So I tell him I smoked for 26 year and quit 26 months ago. The doctor stops writing and says “well do you know what’s in that fluid and have you seen the study that shows high levels of Formaldehyde?” (At this point my wife see’s me ready to answer and cringes)

I happen to say “you mean the study showing 3.3 volts they found no formaldehyde, while at 5.0 volts they found formaldehyde levels up to 15 times higher than in tobacco cigarette smoke. So basically if you were to Vape the Ohm level at 5 volts it would be completely a burnt hit, dry and way out of the normal operating range of what you would call a good Vape. It’s unusable and inaccurate at best”

So my wife is giving me the look of “Shut the fuck up & quit it” behind the doctors back. So I then mention that my eliquid is from the same place (NamberJuice doughnut pounder) for over 2 years and that all of the devices I use or have purchased have instructions… but Phil Busardo videos have taught me of what the actual device does and or doesn’t do. I have learned more from Phil and his YouTube videos on exactly what I am doing. I watch about 2 hours a day on devices and read the latest regulations and opinions on every Vape device… So YES! I do know what I’m taking about.”

So the doctors said “well what voltage does that device do?” I show him my DNA200 and Fire it showing the voltage and ohms to illustrate the 5 volt (above study he referenced) and his response was “Well…. Maybe I haven’t seen the update with that study and should look into it. Yeah it does seem that you have plenty of knowledge on the subject”.

He did say that he needs to know more about it and should “get up to date with those studies”. It was a great day for me and finally I feel that I made a difference. Primarily from watching your in depth reviews of all devices. Not only have I learned about devices but actually learned about ohms/voltage and batteries.

Thank you Phil… Thank you for all you do for us and others. I hopefully will some day be able to shake your hand and tell you personally how well you have help improve my life with the nerdy knowledge some of us crave with devices. You’ll never know how many people you have taught a thing or two about products that have changed our lives. Now let’s just hope the FDA gets their head out of there ass and out of bed with big tobacco or big pharma.

The vaporizer and electronic cigarette industry was shaken when the Food and Drug Administration’s Deeming Regulations for tobacco products were published on May 5th and went into effect on May 10th, 2016.

These FDA regulations are overreaching, costly, and place an enormous burden on an industry made up of tens of thousands of independent retailers. The regulations hamper innovation, ignore science & research data, and in their current form will prove hazardous to all of us who rely on this beloved alternative to combustible tobacco.

We believe in freedom of choice, we believe in fair & reasonable regulations to protect consumers and the public health, and we believe in this lifesaving technology that provides millions with an alternative to lethal combustible tobacco products. The current regulatory framework introduced by the FDA will eliminate 99% of all eliquid, 99% of all hardware. All of the rapid innovations that we have experienced in recent years along with the potential for increased p ublic good that these technologies can provide to society will be stopped. Furthermore if any technical problems should happen, such as finding out there is an issue after August 7th, manufacturers will be prohibited by the federal government to address this and fix it.

The Coalition will be playing a key role in organizing and funding industry activities. We believe the FDA regulations should be justly contested in every arena with every available resource. In this spirit, we are expressing our support for the HB2058 and Cole/Bishop Agricultural Appropriations Amendment and encourage everyone to support these vital and responsible bills. The Cole/Bishop Agricultural Appropriations Amendment for the 2017 Federal Budget is the foundation of saving vaping by moving the predicate date from February 2007 to the effective date of the deeming regulations.

Moving the grandfather date will keep all of the thousands of independent retailers alive and save the jobs and livelihoods of tens of thousands of employees and their families. It will keep these companies from having to file extremely costly applications and will keep our industry alive while we cultivate further legislative strategies to save the industry.

VTA-Guidance: Cole-Bishop is the essential first step to saving vapor

SEVIA USA and leading manufacturers will also financially support a variety of national organizations such as CASAA  and the AVA  and the VTA. These organizations are champions in this challenge for every single vaper and manufacturer.

We also invite all Chinese manufacturers to join us at the table by joining SEVIA USA. We need one another at this time more than ever. We are not just competitors; we are family and we must overcome this challenge together.

If these regulations stand, innovation and product improvements will come to a total halt. Safety issues will by mandate go unaddressed and new advanced technologies will not be allowed to be introduced to the American market. Smokers who have yet to quit may never find the setup that is right for them do so and more Americans will continue to suffer and die needlessly.

This is for every single one of us and for the millions more who have yet to switch. This is just the beginning.

About eight years ago I when in the hospital emergency room with chest pain. After three days the doctors told me I heart swelled up because of the bad state my lungs were in. Time to quit smoking they said. Much easier said than done. As a teen in the 60s, smoking was something a lot of us did and there was not much concern about health. Over the years I tried Pipe smoking and amassed a large collection of fine pipes. Cigars and smokeless tobacco were also on my user list. Now I had no choice but to quit. I never lit another cig after leaving the hospital the doctors told me that I had to stop. I tried to use a few pipes and cigars without inhaling just to get by but that was too hard on my lungs and heart. just the second hand smoke, I could not be around. Patches and gum helped, but did not work too good for me. so I started to use smokeless tobacco more. That soon came to an end for me after my kidneys began to hurt most of the day. I had been swallowing a lot of the tobacco juice and it was not good and I knew I had to stop.
when I found out about vaping there was not much on the market. I use the cig type ones with carts they worked some, but the real help came when I got my first joystick and the early drip type devices. Now I have many mods and Attys. Vaping gear took the place of collecting pipes and cigar humidors etc. And I enjoy it very much as millions of others.
But the most important thing I would like to say to whoever invented vaping and Vapors like yourself Phil who have done so much to help us is: “Thank you for saving my life” or at the least, adding a few years more to enjoy my children and grand children. Last set of lung x rays and scans of my heart and arteries a few months ago gave me a clean bill of health. My lungs are clear now a bit of old scarring and arteries have no built up. I hope the FDA hears us and will not sentence me and others to death by tobacco.. Walk in my shoes for 65 plus years and you will understand the difference between tobacco products and Vaping.

The FDA Deeming Regulations were published on May 10th 2016. The effect on vaping will be dramatic for the industry as well as consumers who depend on these products to stay off combustible tobacco.

The Shenzhen Electronic Vaporizer Industry Association (SEVIA) USA, the nation’s only association representing Chinese manufacturers Aspire, Innokin, Kanger and Smok today pledges support to defend the vaping industry from the onerous and burdensome FDA deeming regulations.

We believe in fair, reasonable regulations to protect the consumers however the current frame of regulation introduced by the agency will eliminate 99% of e-liquid and hardware manufacturers and also eliminate freedom of choice for vapers and millions of smokers that might not have the chance to switch from deadly combustible tobacco.

As an association we are currently going to assist the Right 2 Be Smoke Free Coalition in challenging the unconstitutional federal law affecting the vaping industry. They will play a key role in organizing and funding industry activities. We believe the FDA regulations should be contested and legally challenged

Moving the grandfather date will keep companies alive, allow every vapor company (small or large) to continue to sell their existing products without having to file costly applications and keep our industry alive while we develop legislative strategies to save our industry.

We will also financially support on the national level various organizations such as CASAA and AVA and others so they can continue to fight for consumers and industry.

This is an open invitation to all Chinese manufacturers that want to continue to offer their products on the market. SEVIA USA and it’s founding members are committed to offer their resources to fight back and we ask the industry to join us. These FDA regulations are far over reaching government authority. But most importantly they are detrimental to public health and the safety of the consumer. If we as manufacturers find out there is an issue with our products on August 7th and want to make changes to improve and protect the consumer, the proposed regulations would prohibit us from doing so. Innovation and improvement would come to a complete stop. You can see how these regulations actually introduce safety concerns that would not otherwise have been present if we were permitted to make improvements without pre-market authorization.

The battle begins now, united we stand!

The SvoëMesto Kayfun 5

The Kayfun 5 has arrived! This one has the liquid flow control and ease of fill of the Kayfun 3 Mini in a 22mm format and… finally… an external air flow control. I’ll be building this one up tonight and she’ll be traveling up to Canada with me this weekend!

Here’s some additional information from them:

Intention

The Kayfun 5 is by no means as a subohm tank only. Our core focus has always remained on flavor and usability. It can be used as mouth to lung device and, thanks to being adjustable in air- and liquid flow, it can be used with a variety of setups. It was not our intention to build a cloud chasing device, but we recognize the fact, that there are vapers at any stage -from beginner to enthusiast- out there, who simply prefer direct lung inhaling and who’ve been neglected by us in the past. We recommend a power input between 10W and maximum 50W, of course depending on your coil, since thicker wires distribute heat more evenly and therefore compensate higher power inputs.

Description

The Kayfun 5 follows a similar design pattern as his little brother, the Kayfun Mini V3, combining simplicity, functionality and outstanding performance. A fully adjustable liquid control gives you full control over your liquid flow, however, thanks to SvoëMesto’s pressure based feeding system, fine tuning is not required with the majority of setups. After closing the liquid control, the Kayfun 5 can easily be filled through the top within a couple of seconds. Just as simple as filling it, is accessing your coil by removing the tank, regardless if it’s filled or not. The build deck has been heavily modified to make building coils easier for beginners and more versatile for enthusiasts. At the same time SvoëMesto has increased the adjustable airflow from 2,2mm to 3,2mm offering more than twice the airflow compared to the Kayfun 4.

The airflow control can now be adjusted externally and has 4 positions:

• 1,8mm (Kayfun Lite plus)
• 2,2mm (Kayfun 4)
• 2,7mm (Kayfun 4S)
• 3,2mm (maximum airflow)

The internal design of the evaporation chamber has been optimized to create an outstanding flavor profile, Kayfun fans have grown to love, even at higher airflow settings.

The Kayfun Mini 5 is made from the same high class materials as the Kayfun Mini V3. Thanks to its intelligent design, cleaning and maintenance can be done by disassembling the atomizer into no more than five pieces, no tools required.
It’s functionality, intuitive handling and rich flavor profile combined with great performance capabilities makes the Kayfun Mini 5 a true daily driver.
