NEW IN THE QUEUE – THE KANGER JUPPI STARTER KIT – 8/11/16

Here’s the Juppi starter kit dy Kanger. Now before you email me and tell me that I just misspelled something take a look at the photos. Good news is that they’ve already identified and corrected it, but wow.
The Juppi is a variable wattage device firing up to 75W, does temp control with Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel 316 and Ni-Chrome, uses a single 18650 battery behind a magnetic battery cover. The 510 connection is about midway down on the side of the device.
The fire button is on the side of the device which should make for an easier firing solution than we just saw with the Arymi Armor box.
It includes their new Juppi tank. Although I haven’t tried it yet, this does look like a direct lung tank and comes with a .2 ohm, re-wickable coil. Kanger recommends a liquid with a VG ratio higher than 50% with this tank.
But that coil though. At first glance, it looks like a pain in the buttocks to re-wick. Also, it looks like the notched Gil coil that was just in the Gil tank but has since been replaced by the new Gil coil which is now just a coil for better flavor and vapor production.
I’m so confused.
Anyway, here’s some additional information from Kanger:
The Kanger Juppi Starter Kit features the Juppi TC Box Mod and the Juppi Tank. The Juppi Box Mod fires up to 75 watts and requires (1) high amp 18650 battery (sold separately). Here’s the Cupti 2, the bigger brother of the Cupti.
This is another internal tank device, similar to the original Cupti. It has the body shape of the Drip Box 160 (Reuleaux), uses two 18650 batteries, fires up to 80W, does temp control for Nickel 200, Titanium and Stainless Steel and is firmware upgradeable. As a matter of fact, they’re already hinting at a 80W to 100W upgrade.
Although it’s substantially larger than the Cupti, we don’t gain any additional tank capacity, it has the same 5ml tank as seen in the Cupti 1.
I like the fact that this one comes with an adapter that will turn it into a standard 510 device. We didn’t see that with the original Cupti.
Regarding the big M you’re gonna see on the screen. I’ll figure that out when I get to it. 🙂

Here we have the Arymi Armor starter kit. The kit includes the Armor tank which is top fill and similar to the Kanger Pangu tank.
The tank sits protected in the side of the mod with a removable magnetic “cage”. Although the kit includes the tank, the device is also available on it’s own, and in this case, tank size matters. You’re going to need something at least 2 inches tall to clear the top of the device for use.
No adjustments on this one, just a 5 led batter indicator and an internal 2600 mAh battery.
Still trying to find out if you’re vaping off the battery with some safety features built in (like a bypass mode) or if it’s regulated at some specific wattage. As soon as I find out, I’ll update this post.
I find the fire button to be in a wildly uncomfortable position for both thumbing and triggering, but it does seem to work well for “middle fingering” 🙂

Ok, so you remember everything I JUST told you about the Gille tank? Well, you can forget it. Looks like they’ve changed both the top cap airflow design AND coil design (which now looks surprisingly like… a coil). They’ve informed me that the new design produces more flavor, more vapor, is easier to re-wick and cheaper. Looks like something you could potentially build yourself as well.

But this kit is more than the tank, it’s the device as well. The Pro One device is a 75 watt, 18650 mod with a magnetic battery cover that does variable wattage, temperature control for NI, TI, SS316, & nichrome.
The screen layout on this one… hmmm… looks strangely familiar. Gotta love China copying China.
Not thrilled about the condition of this mod out the box. I think the packaging should better protect the finish, or include the protective film I oh so enjoy removing.

I’ve been impressed with the look, quality and presentation of the J Well product ever since I met them several years ago in Paris (I think it was Paris 🙂 ). I guess it’s a good place to meet them since they are a France based company.
Here we have their Passy. This one has a side mounted, top filling, adjustable airflow tank that is protected by and attaches to the device with a magnetic connection, making removing it and installing it a breeze.
You’re not going to able to use your own tip with this one as it’s integrated into the top cap. Makes sense for this design because if you try to pull the tank out and the mouthpiece comes off you’re going to be cranky trying to dig the tank out.
No adjustments on this one, just a 3 led battery indicator. Also features 5-click on/off, an internal 1500 mAh battery and looks like Fiber Freaks is doing the wicking for you in the coil head.
Little surprised and disappointed that the kit (at least mine) only includes a single coil.
Comes in light pink, black, anthracit, and pearly white.

This tiny little 2ml tank is very similar in design to the Cubis. It get’s it’s air from the top by the mouthpiece which is fed down to the coil head and back up to the mouthpiece. There is an airflow adjustment on the top. It comes with a metal and a glass mouthpiece and is supposed to be able to do MTL and DL. I’d like to see the .5 ohm coming with the tank to better support DL.
Mine came with a 1.5 ohm and a 1.0 ohm coil head. Apparently there is a .5 ohm and a .2 ohm NI head available for it as well.
Looked like a nice little MTL tank so I threw the 1.5ohm head in it, filled it up and gave it a quick go. Well… almost. The 1.5 ohm head gave me a resistance too low error on a few different device. UH OH!! The 1.0 ohm head is working well though.

THE ELEAF ISTICK POWER NANO KIT
Another mini comes our way, this time from Eleaf. The iStick Power Nano kit is a 40W device that also does temperature control, has support for NI, TI, SS, and TCR as well as a bypass mode and has a built in 1100 mAh battery. The kit comes with a top-filling Melo 3 Nano atomizer.
I took a quick look at the two supplied coils (ECML 0.75ohm & EC 0.3ohm Head) and the .75 looks like a good diameter for mouth to lung (MTL) (probably why it’s called the EC”ML”). The other head is going to give you the direct lung (DL). Wished it had included a smaller tip for MTL and those who prefer that. For DL, it looks pretty good.
It comes in several colors and finishes.
Although I haven’t used it yet, I did fire it up for the photos below, and I gotta tell ya, I truly hate the buttons. Not the fire button, but the control buttons. In the middle of the tiny up and down buttons (which feel a bit recessed) there is an even tinier raised mode button. It makes adjusting and getting through the modes a bit of a drag.

This one is definitely designed with the smoker in mind. A simple to use, no adjustment, automatic, self contained device. When I say automatic, it’s the draw that activates the device, there is no fire button.
There’s a little plug you need to remove under the mouth piece/top cap which I’m not a fan of. Also not crazy about how the top cap sits on the top. I’d like to see a firmer seal, perhaps a click in place or magnetic holding system.
