American Cancer Society Position Statement on Electronic Cigarettes
A step in the right direction?
Based on currently available evidence, using current generation e-cigarettes is less harmful than smoking cigarettes
These individuals should be encouraged to switch to the least harmful form of tobacco product possible; switching to the exclusive use of e-cigarettes is preferable to continuing to smoke combustible products.
Yeah, there’s some shitty stuff in there too, but let’s focus on the good for now.

NEW FROM REGULATOR WATCH – Vaping Industry Makes Its Case (HESA – 2018)
Here’s the latest from Brent Stafford at Regulator Watch:
The future of the vaping industry in Canada is on the line as Bill S-5 rounds the final turn on its way to becoming law.
Canada’s new federal vaping regulations are before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health this week and today representatives from the vaping industry made the case for a vaping as a safer alternative to smoking.
Marc Kealey and Boris Giller from the Canadian Vaping Association weighed in on retail standards, certification and the importance of flavours, while Sherwin Edwards from Vapselect Inc. argued vaping has been unfairly demonized in the press.
HESA MPs tossed a few hardballs, see how the industry reacted-on RegWatch by RegulatorWatch.com.

Here is Episode #2 of The Smoker’s Show.
The Smoker’s Show is a vape show not for vapers, but for smokers.
A show to get information about vaping, to debunk vaping myths, to discuss vaping terminology & technology, and to look at and review starter kits for the transitioning smoker.
We urge all vapers to invite those they know who still smoke to watch the show!
Thank you all for your support and let’s convert more smokers together!

GRRRRRRR – This deserves a cranky response!!
So I did watch and read this…
‘JUULing’: The dangerous trend gaining steam among teens
So much frustrates me about this.
- They are NOT targeted to kids, they are targeted to adults who want to quit smoking and want to do it with a small compact and satisfying device.
- The flavors are not “CLEARLY” targeted to kids. Adults enjoy flavors too. Imagine that.
- You bring the synthetic marijuana issue into the story? WHY?? What does one have to do with the other? Shame!!!
- And this is the most frustrating thing:
STOP BLAMING THE DAMN DEVICE FOR YOUR INABILITY TO PROPERLY RAISE AND CONTROL YOUR KIDS!!!
Jesus Fucking Christ – we LOVE the word BLAME in this society and HATE the word RESPONSIBLE!!
- Blame the KID for getting the device.
- Blame the STORE that sold the device.
- Blame these tools on YouTube showing kids how to get, use, and hide the device.
- Blame YouTube for allowing such videos.
- Blame the parents for not being aware of what their kids are doing.
Stop blaming the device and vaping which has the potential to save a lot of damn lives.
Cause if your kids weren’t “Juuling” they’d be doing something else they’re not supposed to.
Good on Juul for answering the questions the way they did.
Thank you for allowing me to vent.
More from the fine folks in the UK! 10 common questions about e-cigarettes answered

More from the fine folks in the UK… and from a site called “Cancer Research UK” no less…
Dear FDA… PLEASE READ HERE.
From Phil (not me) :-)
I smoked for 40 years, some of the time heavily, other times less so.
Last year, I was trying to see where I could save money, and thought I’d cut down on
smoking, and partially replace it with a simple vaping device. I’m pretty much
housebound, and didn’t really know where to start, but when I had a dental
appointment on 6th February 2017, discovered from a lady in the waiting room (who
popped outside for a quick vape) that there was a vape shop very close, and went in
as much for advice as to make a purchase. I left with a store badged CE5 and
supplies to run it, along with the URL of their online service to be able to
re-stock as necessary.
On the 13th February I realized that it was over 24 hours since I’d felt the need
for a cigarette – it had been easier and more convenient to take an occasional puff
on the clearomiser than to roll a cigarette (yes, I was on strong hand-rolled
cigarettes, as they cost less) – so decided to see how long I could keep it up. I’m
still tobacco free, and will be claiming 12th February as my first vape-iversary, as
that is the first day that I’m certain I didn’t smoke.Being stuck in the house, it’s really been the internet support that’s made the
difference, including your Youtube channel, which I find refreshingly objective
compared to most (reviewers can suffer from shinyitis as much as any of us, but
their ability to infect others is far greater!).
Amazingly, I’ve even managed to pile up a fair bit of vape gear while still spending
less than I would have on tobacco, rolling papers and the rest of the consumables
that go along with an ounce a week habit, so I’m now getting the benefits
(therapeutic as well as financial – my physio-terrorist reckons the hand movements I
use in opening bottles, mixing, coil winding etc are as good as any she could
prescribe) of building my own wire to wrap my own coils to vape my own juice – I
haven’t bought any juice or coils since about May, only ingredients and wire).Thank you for being an important part of my support network.
Regards,
Phil (the other geek) Lee 🙂
From Public Health England – E-cigarettes and heated tobacco products: evidence review
Why can’t we figure this out and support it here in America? Money perhaps?
DEAR FDA,
Recent estimates of additional quitters resulting annually from the availability of e-cigarettes, using the same dataset but 2 different methods, resulted in similar figures within the range of 16,000 to 22,000. Varying the assumptions, and updating these estimates for 2016, resulted in an upper bound estimate of around 57,000 additional quitters annually resulting from e-cigarettes (lower bound around 22,000). While caution is needed with these figures, the evidence suggests that e-cigarettes have contributed tens of thousands of additional quitters in England.
