FROM VTA/TONY ABBOUD – TELL CONGRESS TO WORK AS HARD AS YOU ARE TO KEEP E-CIGS AWAY FROM MINORS!
TELL CONGRESS TO WORK AS HARD AS YOU ARE
TO KEEP E-CIGS AWAY FROM MINORS!
All,
The time to act is now. The bi-partisan Cole-Bishop Amendment in Congress has passed the House as Section 753 of the House Agriculture Appropriations bill. This language that VTA and the rest of the vapor industry have been fighting for will save vapor products for adults by ensuring that they are not wiped out of the market.
Right now, Congressional leaders are discussing the full scope of FY2018 Appropriations bills that will be agreed upon by the House and Senate and whether Section 753 will be in the final package.
Given all the attention being paid to the issue of minors getting access to vapor products, this is the perfect time for our industry to demand passage of the Cole-Bishop Amendment which will ensure that vapor products remain available to adult smokers desperately trying to quitand which also will take concrete steps to protect youth.
But, unless they hear from everyone NOW they may not even know that they have the chance to protect teens with the common-sense changes that are designed to limit teen exposure to marketing and keep vapor products away from them. For example, the amendment:
- Bans print advertising in all but adult-only publications;
- Bans self-service displays in stores;
- Bans sales of e-cigarettes in vending machines; and
- Bans sales of e-cigarettes in kiosks.
In addition, the bill requires FDA to start a rulemaking process on characterizing flavors at some point in the next 12 months, and it also requires labels to boldly warn “Keep Out of Reach of Children” and “Underage Sale is Prohibited” and to state accurate nicotine content.
So, the question for your Senators and Representatives is:“Why wouldn’t you pass these common-sense restrictions that will protect minors in all 50 states!”
Our industry works hard to prevent minors from accessing our products. Now, we need Congress to work as hard as you are!

Let them hear why it is so important to save vapor and protect youth by passing the bi-partisan Cole-Bishop Amendment!
Thank you!

BATTERY SAFETY AFFECTS ALL OF US!!
I woke up to a terrific article this morning…
Vaping device cause of fire that sent hundreds of passengers, TSA agents running at Denver airport
Fire investigators say the device’s exposed lithium-ion battery likely made contact with conductive materials in the bag, causing the battery to create a “dead short.” The short caused the battery to heat up combustible materials within the bag, leading to the fire.
Please… EVERYONE!! Take battery safety seriously. It only takes one small mistake or moment of carelessness to affect the entire vaping industry.
DO NOT carry vaping device batteries unprotected!!
- Use a battery box.
- Use a silicone sleeve.
- Buy from a reputable company who provides these with your purchase.
It’s a very cheap investment to protect you, those around you, and the industry as a whole. Here are PLENTY of examples:
DON’T BE THE CAUSE OF MORE NEGATIVE PRESS FOR THE VAPING INDUSTRY!
EDUCATE YOURSELF AND THOSE AROUND YOU!
And to vape shops as well. Take the time to educate those buying batteries and devices!!
We are going to talk more about this on the next Smoker’s Show coming Tuesday March 6th when we will have Battery Mooch on as our very special guest.

From Joshua
Hi Phil, I decided to quit smoking for the new year. My 8 yr old son kept
asking me too, so because I love my children I made the jump. I should say blind
leap. I had always been bias aginst it. “You dont know whats in that stuff!” was
always my veiw. Not thinking about what I had been sucking in my lungs for 20 yrs.
Anyway, I started poking around on the net, picked up a smok pen 22, some 12mg chock
juice from a loxal shop, and started vaping. OMG! Bad start right off. Leaking
mod, burning coils, coughing, coughing. Did I metion coughing. Back to the internet.
I did a few searches on youtube and I kept seeing your site. I clicked on the first
one I saw, a review about something or another. I was kinda put back, all the
“lingo”, but I stuck it out. Now Im hooked. I picked up an innokin t20 starter kit,
6mg juice, got my wife to quit with me and I started my journey. As with all roads,
I stumbled over some rocks, but I havnt smoked in 2 weeks. Thank you for helping me
take those few steps.Joshua
From Jason
Phil,
On August 30, 2014 I officially quit smoking. This was after 24 years of about a pack and a half a day habit. Though this day is very monumental for me, it wasn’t the beginning. The beginning was when I found a “ciga-like” and decided to try that first. Then after that failed and I kept smoking I went to the Blu E-Cig. Great idea and concept, shit product. I felt somewhere inside that there had to something else to this because it seemed so promising. So a few google searches and I stumble upon tasteyourjuice.com. The Alton Brown of the Vaping community. I was there to watch your light saber mod with your Boba’s Bounty review, I saw your Rick Roll, your interview with the ducks in your swimming pool, that ridiculous mod with the massive non-customizable cartos that had a Bluetooth speaker and many others. I bought my Ovale Ego-Twist because of you, I bought Boge Cartos because of you, I bought my Kanger tanks because of you, I bought my Aspire tanks because of you, I bought my Provari because of you. In short Phil…you cost me a lot of money J
I cannot begin to thank you enough for your video’s, your generous contests (though I’ve never won), your humor in most of your video’s and your utmost respect and love for those in the vaping community, especially those that were and are just plain smokers who had this strange bipolar disorder where we wanted to stop and yet at the same time continue what we were doing but stop killing ourselves. Through it all, I myself have been able to convince about a dozen or so people to quit smoking and switch to vaping. The reason I finally was able to put down the Red Box for good was because any time I started to feel weak and that little devil on my shoulder was telling me the gas station was just 2 minutes away and so easy…I just launched another video of you for inspiration! Once I got over the initial hump, it was not even an issue anymore. So much so that last summer I went to this far off spot on Galveston Island for some surf fishing and as I was pulling onto the beach my mod took a shit! No backup, no nothing. Everyone around did smoke though. It would have been nothing for me to bum one off of someone. Happy to say I didn’t, I actually stayed the whole day to fish, but when it was over I sped like hell to my local B&M and bought a Smok Alien 220w. That was a rough day, but I felt better about it because I could see that look on your face every time I wanted to ask someone for a smoke. I prevailed.
I tell you this for a few reasons.
1. I respect and love the hell out of you!
2. I care very much about your opinion (Like Kirk respects Spock’s opinion more than other peoples facts)
3. I’ve been meaning to tell you this for quite some time.Regards,
Jason

BALTIMORE CANDLE COMPANY – HAND CRAFTED CANDLES, BATH BOMBS & MORE!
What does this have to do with vaping? Absolutely nothing!
But I am trying to help out someone who was in the vape business and who has helped me out in the past!
So thank you Brian Hollenback and I wish you and your wife success with your new business!!
After 15 years in accounting and property management – my wife decided to peruse something she loves… Candles & Charity!
So she opened Baltimore Candle Co.!
Each month she donates a portion of all sales to a different charity. This month charity is The House of Ruth (a domestic violence shelter here in Baltimore)
She is amazing at what she does and I’m just trying to use my network of great humans to help her achieve her goal.
Helping people while collecting a very minimal fee for services rendered.
Our prices are about 40% cheaper than big brand companies yet we use the same if not superior medium to create her products.
She sells Bath Bombs, Candles, Hand Made Soaps & Wax Melts.
Vaping helps tobacco smokers quit, so don’t over-regulate industry
Congrats and well done on this article from my BFF Dimitris Agrafiotis…
This reflects what we have been hearing for years. From our network of 86 vape shops— retail stores that specialize in selling vaping products— we regularly receive stories about longtime, heavy smokers who achieved lasting behavior change and success in quitting cigarettes altogether, thanks to vaping. While vaping has only been around for a decade, this positive message has quickly spurred a grassroots movement of people who are passionate about helping others switch to a less harmful product.
