Would Dr. Scott Gottlieb save vaping? This was the question on the minds of many in the vaping industry upon hearing the news President Trump would appoint Dr. Gottlieb as the new head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The answer is starting to become clear.

In a bombshell announcement Commissioner Gottlieb issued a 5-year extension on compliance deadlines for the dreaded Premarket Tobacco Application process, which if fully implemented could have wiped out the vaping industry. He announced a new approach to nicotine regulation that recognizes the harm reduction benefits of e-cigarettes. And, he committed FDA to a more robust and sustainable regulatory framework for the vaping industry.
